Now we have decided on our genre and got some ideas for the storyline we can begin relating it to the audience.
The main target audience we will try to be targeting would be males any age above 18, which will probably we the certificate for our film. We will also try to target the more hard-core of horror film goers, as many of them who enjoyed films similar to ours will be drawn to the final film.
Another reason for our chosen audience for our horror film is because when it comes to younger men. watching a horror film or saying you've seen is it something to be proud of. It becomes a measurement of their masculinity, and if you haven't seen it then you're obviously too scared. So by knowing this we aim to generate a following and a lot of hype about our film around the target audience though our trailer and word of mouth.

Audience Profiling
This information shows that a massive 79% of the audience for paranormal activity was ages 15-24, this is very helpful in knowing who to aim our film trailer at in terms of ages. It is also very helpful as it help us decide on the age certificate of our film. At first Sid and I where unsure whether it should be a 15 age rating or an 18, although it mainly depends on the content of the film and trailer this table gives a clear indication of the ages that are very likely to see our film.

The Ring [trailer] (2002) Horror Genre Analysis
The Ring trailer shows many different aspects of horror film cliches. one of them being seen in the main character, a young attractive vulnerable looking women.
In the trailer the majority of the shots are very dark, adding to the horror film cliches.
Also another cliche used in the trailer is the fact she has a son, adding to the venerability so the situation.
The trailer also has many good aspects of a horror film trailer. The editing starts off slowly then as the clips begin to escalate so does the pace, the digetic and non digetic sound also plays huge parts in a horror film.
As music is used to enhance suspense and increase tension. The dialogue also allows part of the films story line to be revealed without giving massive amounts away.
The sound is a huge aspect which we will have to take into consideration when making our film.
"Paranormal Activity" - Official Trailer [HQ HD]
The first trailer is very different to what we would be trying to do, this trailer includes footage of the audience actually watching the film.
However it does reveal some of the storyline about the film which is essential to all trailers. The trailer also shows the same inter titles used by the actual film which is very effective in both, as it sets the scene and creates some suspense towards the audience as they begin to become more aware of each situation.
Also though out the film a majority of the shots are from a handheld camera which would have a very powerful affect on the audience as they would be able to put themselves in that situation as its from their own point of view or perspective.
However Sidney and I also understand that we will have to have a wide range of shots as parts of the mark scheme.
Transformers 3 Dark of the Moon Trailer 3 Official (HD)
There are many aspects of this trailer that we could use for our trailer. Although its a different genre the ideas behind it are still similar, such as trying to entice the audience into watching it the whole way though, meaning the audience would have a greater chance of wanting to watch the film it self.
This trailer does this in a number of ways for example the title screens don't appear until some of the clips have been shown, therefore keeping the audience watching and relieving some small aspects of the storyline.
They open the trailer with a spaceship crashing into the surface of the moon, this includes an explosion. Meaning that the audience is already closely pay attention. Then 36 seconds into the trailer the film titles apear, which is what the audience would see as less of an intrest. So showing it inbetween the parts of action and storyline the audience would stay interested thoughout and continue watching the whole trailer.
500 Days of Summer - Teaser Trailer
500 days of summer is not the conventional romantic film. Its considered a postmodern film meaning it does not follow the conventional style that most do.
These things include, boy meets girl, they then fall in love. They will them fall out, most of the time because of the boys. He will then have a daring attempt to win her back and eventually will.
However this trailer does a very good job of making you believe that. It also does a very good job of revealing parts of the story line with out showing to much. So it will have to desired advertising affect.

Horror Film cliches
There are many horror film cliches that Sidney and i have discussed and thought we would have to include in our film.
One of the first being hunted house of deserted house. Which we would easier include into our ideas as it appears to fit in this our planning.
Another cliche that is part of the horror film genre that we probably wont be including is young creepy children. Many films include a creepy kid that appears to be hunting an area and nobody knows if anyone is it parents, the child would also have a past with the house or the previous owners.
Another aspect that appears in a lot of horror films is something happening in the reflection of a mirror, which we could use to full affect in showing then audience possibly something the main protagonist doesn't see.

28 days/Weeks analysis
This is the teaser trailer for 28 days later, its a film that is also of the horror film genre similar to our first thoughts for our own trailer. Were thinking of a horror film as they are the ones that we both watch and enjoy.
Also when looking into what makes this teaser trailer effective it is a number for different things, at more than half the time its very dark coloured. There is also a lot of emphasis and different words in comparison to others.
for example the word 'infection' and 'exposure' all paint the same picture in a horror film trailer. It already makes the audience on edge and the emphasis on certain word adds great effecting in cutting from scene to scene.
Also there are many idea that i have for my trailer that are in this one. I think parts showing a deserted London with one confused person wandering helplessly adds a lot of mystery and suspense.
There are also aspects of a teaser trailer that are different to a normal one such as, they are generally shorter, don't give away much of the plot which adds to the mysterious nature of films like horror and they are normally showed before the actual trailer in order to gain publicity
